Why should I backup Office 365?

Office 365 is one of the most favourite cloud services in the world. I bet you’ve come across it even at your own workplace, as its market share in Finnish small and medium sized companies is almost 70 percent. At the same time, vast services for the backup of cloud services, like Office 365, have increased – one of these is Nexetic’s Shield Backup. You might wonder however, for what purposes are these services needed? Doesn’t Microsoft backup information – isn’t the data secure in the cloud, and if something happens, can’t the data be found from the recycle bin?

Nexetic’s professionals are unanimous – the Office 365 data and workstations need to be backed up, as the information really disappears also from the recycle bin after a definite time period. If, for example, you delete accidentally an important email, it will disappear from the recycle bin after 30 days. You can buy extensions to the recycle bin, but even then, the information disappears permanently after 90 days.

“It’s widely accepted that when a company uses cloud services, you can let go of backup gradually. This, however, is usually the other way around. In the era of cloud services, the need for backup and backup services is even greater than before”, says Nexetic’s VP of Global Sales Henry Liukko-Sipi in Nexetic’s new webinar.

6 good reasons to backup Office 365 data

Did you know that as much as third of all companies have lost important information from Office 365 (Aberdeen)? Majority of these are due to human errors, but some are the result of intentional mistakes and neglects or for example malware or cyberattacks.

Whatever the reason, the risk is real for every company and should be noted. ”Too often we are contacted when the damage has already happened. Backup services should be considered similar to insurances”, reminds Liukko-Sipi.

We listed six excellent reasons why you should backup your Office 365 data:

1. Information is deleted accidentally

2. Data can’t be restored from all time periods

3. Internal data security threats

4. External data security threats

5. Service outages

6. Responsibility for the safety of company information according to GDPR.

In our webinar, we tell you more about what happens to the information deleted from Office 365 and why Office 365 data should be backed up. You also hear real-life examples, how Nexetic’s services could’ve helped companies in cases where information has been lost.
